Racing Away at OTC

Another Offshore Technology Conference at the Reliant Park in Houston has come and gone and I would count this as one of the most successful yet. The official statistics show that attendance was up 14% from last year to a 30 year high of 89,400. It certainly felt like the sold out show that it was considering the steady stream of visitors to the Geoforce booth.   Interest was extremely high in our offshore asset tracking solutions and judging from the response of newcomers to our booth, we will be creating value in the oil industry for a long time to come. To illustrate the international attendance of the OTC, one of our top customers stopped by our booth with operations team members from 6 continents in tow.

The most important insights from any trade show, especially the OTC, can be gained from conversations exploring business needs and drivers away from the hustle and bustle of the office. Speaking to new prospects about utilizing Geoforce to improve operational efficiencies or digging into an established clients need to integrate with their existing business systems always proves to be an exciting endeavor.

Also, what would the OTC be without a little fun. This year the Geoforce team partnered with MSR Houston and held an exciting event at their Houston facility. Our top clients and prospects were able to race the course in high performance karts. We were all loaded into Mercedes test cars where MSR drivers pushed the limits of the vehicles, and our stomachs, speeding over 100 MPH on the road track. The winner of the kart races was able to drive an AMG Mercedes around the track for a few laps and the roar of those engines and the squeaking of those tires was really something to behold. All in all it was a wonderful and productive OTC week and the Geoforce team looks forward to continuing to provide cutting edge and valuable technology to the oilfield and attending the show again in 2013 at booth #7730!
