Can you afford to lose visibility of this cargo’s location? For an hour? For a day? For a week? Of course, we all know the answer already: losing visibility into critical assets can mean losing even more: money, time, productivity, safety, sanity…
As our solutions evolve, Geoforce continues to try to make life easier for the people running day to day operations.
Recently, we delivered the latest version of our fleet solution to a large, land-based O&G Operating company, which is the launch user of this enhancement. I don’t know who was more excited – my customer or me – because I felt like we really nailed it using a “less is more” philosophy.
Geoforce has long recognized that in Oil & Gas, fleet tracking has to be different than showing vehicle dots on a map – or even breadcrumbs. The O&G industry also seems more interested in information that is instantly actionable, intelligence that can pragmatically be put to use NOW. In our industry, sometimes too much information about vehicles is overkill. While it’s nice to know the tire pressure and fault codes of a vehicle, that’s NOT what is most important in day to day operations. We’ve listened, and we’ve learned that what really matters is knowing where trucks are located in relation to all the other assets a company is managing: minute-by-minute, hour-by-hour, day-by-day. It’s also important to know what kind of vehicle is being tracked. Finally, in Oil & Gas operations, it’s likely that that asset locations need to be shared with other companies – whether suppliers or customers. And finally, there are so many “types” of locations to consider – whether it’s a well site, a depot, or even a repair shop. That’s always been a Geoforce strength: our ability to overlay GIS industry data with company-specific locations and assets. What’s exciting about our newest version is that we now make it easier for someone in a command center to quickly answer a question like: “which of my water trucks is closest if a frac tank needs to be serviced.” Geoforce is looking forward to rolling out this solution to many other vehicle fleet customers!
