As evidenced by the establishment of our office in Macae two years ago, the Brazilian oil and gas market is of utmost importance to Geoforce. As such, we were proud to exhibit last week at Brazil Offshore, one of the main trade shows for the national and international oil and gas sector in Brazil. Brazil Offshore showed the world the enormous size and potential of this market, what’s new, and next steps, while also promoting information exchange and knowledge building.
Just about every visitor to our booth was fascinated to be able to touch our GT1 Global Asset Tracker, the world’s only Anatel, Inmetro, ATEX/IECEx Zone 0 certified GPS tracking device. Most were amazed at how heavy and rugged it felt, something that is an absolute requirement for the oilfield.
Oilfield service and operating companies in Brazil are increasingly using the GT1 and our Track and Trace software application, as regulatory equipment tracking requirements like the REPETRO special customs regime, which aims to reduce the tax burden levied on the exploration and production of oil and gas fields, become more widespread.
Additionally, in order to operate more efficiently, companies like Petrobras have begun using intrinsically safe Zone 0 certified tracking devices like the GT1 to better manage their field equipment, both owned and rented. As part of this, Geoforce recently secured a four year contract with Petrobras Distribuidora in Brazil to provide GPS tracking solutions for chemical totes used in Petrobras operations.
Our President & CEO, James MacLean, was present in the booth of Geoforce do Brasil, joining five employees of our Brazilian subsidiary: Account Service Representatives, Danielle Mendes and Andre Chaboudet, Field Service Technician, Rodrigo Lima, Senior Accountant, Simone Melo, and me.
The show was a great opportunity to meet our customers and interact with new prospects as we grow our business in Brazil. We are proud to play our part in making the Brazilian oil patch less chaotic and more safe, while helping our customers optimize their logistics and improve their operations.
