Recently, a customer called our operations support team needing an easier method to locate the history of his fleet during a specific time period and area. The client had received a report that one of his trucks was speeding down Andrews Highway 191 on the afternoon of April 2nd. However, he didn’t have the license number of the truck and with hundreds of vehicles traveling in the general area, he didn’t want to look through every asset’s breadcrumb trail to find it. In order to find the truck in question, he needed a tool that allowed him to specify the general area and a time range, so that he could find the truck in question.
The Geoforce team developed a new map address search and map time line control feature to answer this question. The address search finds the general area based on a specific address or a “fuzzy” address (i.e., “ABC Hwy, TX”), and the Time Line Control allows you to see the map at a user-defined historical point in time. The Map Time Line Control Export functionality then allows you to export the assets and breadcrumbs for those assets in the given area and time frame.

The new Map Timeline Control feature rolled out on March 29th and is retroactive so customers can look up histories before the software update.
