Employee Spotlight: Kevin Berry - Geoforce

Employee Spotlight: Kevin Berry

Can you afford to lose visibility of this cargo’s location? For an hour? For a day? For a week? Of course, we all know the answer already: losing visibility into critical assets can mean losing even more: money, time, productivity, safety, sanity…

This month, we shine the Employee Spotlight on Kevin Berry, Geoforce’s Infrastructure Manager.

Read the Q&A below to learn more about him!

Q: What do you do for Geoforce?

A: I manage the company’s IT and Infrastructure resources. We process over 2 million tag readings a day generated by our satellite and cellular-based GPS tracking devices deployed in field operations as far flung as West Africa, Southeast Asia, and the North Slope of Alaska. My team also supports the infrastructure behind our software and mobile applications as they are used daily by over 500 customers in 70 countries. My team’s job is to make sure these customers’ experiences with our devices and software are always positive. In honesty, if we’ve done our job properly, no one even really knows we exist. =)

Q: How long have you been working with Geoforce?

A: 4.5 years now.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: Reading – mostly science fiction and mystery; Video gaming – PC and Playstation; Food excursions – trying out new (to me) restaurants, or new things at places I’ve been before.

Q: If you could choose one song as your theme song, what would it be and why?

A: We Are the Champions by Queen. It expresses my determination to always come out winning, despite any set backs.

Q: If you were stranded in an airport what would be your 3 must-haves?

A: I’d have to say headphones, laptop, and fresh clothes to change into.  It might change if I were stranded for more than a couple of days.

Q: What is your favorite attribute of Geoforce?

A: I know it gets said often, but the people.  The people make this place great.

Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

A: That’s a tough one.  Maybe time travel?  It’d be nice to be able to go back in time and fix mistakes of the past.

Q: What is your New Year’s resolution?

A: Keep on improving.  Standing still is not an option.
