If you visited the Geoforce website or social media forums this week, you might have noticed that Brazil has been a bit of a hot topic for us. Geoforce officially announced our first international subsidiary, GEOFORCE DO BRASIL– based in Macae, Brazil, the hub of the country’s booming offshore oil and gas industry.
Geoforce has had a presence in Brazil for years and for the last couple of years, has been working towards establishing a permanent footprint in the country. I joined the journey at the beginning of this year as Brazil’s Business Manager. Once the Brazilian entity was officially established, we filed to receive the Anatel certification on the Geoforce GT-1 tracking device. The hardware development team submitted samples for testing and we received final approval and certification status at the end of May.
This next week, I will be attending Brasil Offshore with Geoforce’s VP of Strategic Accounts Matt Ulrich, who was part of the original team in the Gulf of Mexico that built our strong foothold in the offshore CCU market. It will be great to have Matt in Macae with me, as we plan to take Geoforce’s success in the Gulf to offshore Brazil. Brasil Offshore is one of the largest oil and gas shows held in South America. The Campos Basin accounts for 96% of all Brazilian offshore oil and 80% of all oil produced in Brazil. It is considered the world’s largest deep-water laboratory where products can be continuously tested and results obtained to expand the oil production. It’s great to be a part of a growing effort that is expanding globally.
